Walk Every Day

Having a routine to walk every day seems so nice, doesn’t it? It is nice to get out and go for a walk in the morning when you enjoy the warmth of the sun, look at all the beautiful trees as they transform season-to Season, and breathe in the crisp fresh air. But walking is not just for morning walks. It can be fun to walk any time of the day, any time you feel like it!

The most important part of having a daily routine to walk every day is to maintain your regular cardiovascular exercise. If you have not exercised for some time, you may be surprised how much better your health will improve if you maintain a regular routine of exercise. And there are many ways to do this. One way is by walking on a treadmill or even jogging. Other ways include running in place on a bicycle or even stair climbing on a flight of stairs.

For those of us who would prefer to walk every day without much thought, a good time to start a routine of walking is when you start losing weight. When you are losing weight, especially in a very short time period, it is natural to put the weight back on again rather quickly. But by doing a little bit of daily exercise, you will be able to keep that weight off much more effectively. And it can help you in your goal of lower blood pressure!

So now you know that it is good to do a little walking every day. What are the other health benefits of walking? Well there are several and some of them are listed below. Just remember that all of these health benefits are only enjoyed if you take the time to walk regularly and consistently, at least five times a week, for at least 30 minutes each session.

One of the best things about regular walking is that it burns lots of calories, and it is also good for maintaining a healthy heart. Many people are aware that walking is good for their health, but many of those same people are unaware that walking is also good for burning calories. When you have your daily walk, you burn an average of one thousand calories per hour. That’s less than two miles for an hour of regular walking! And when you add in the amount of calories you burn while running, biking or stair stepping, you will see that you can burn up to sixteen thousand calories a day just by walking! Sounds like a lot of calories burned, doesn’t it!

Of course, not all calories burned are fat. Some are muscle which means you will build muscle mass as well when you perform regular exercises such as walking. That means not only do you get a great aerobic workout, you also increase your muscle mass, which means you will be fitter overall and may even be able to do more physical activity and get through the day with a little more ease. There are many other health benefits to regular exercise. As an added bonus, your eyesight will improve and so will your immune system and your cardiovascular system. If you want a healthier body, you really need to walk every day!
